JUSTICE DELAYED - 47 UP cops convicted for killing 11 Sikh pilgrims 25 years ago

A CBI court on Friday held 47 policemen guilty of killing 11 Sikh pilgrims in a fake encounter in Pilibhit around 25 years ago. The court took 20 convicts into custody and sent them to jail, whereas it issued non-bailable warrants against rest 27 who did not appear before it at the time the verdict. The court will pronounce the quantum of sentence on April 4. Convicting the accused policemen under Sections 302 (murder), 364 (kidnapping), 365 (kidnapping with illegal confinement), 218 (public servant framing incorrect records) and 117 (abetting commission of offence by more than 10 persons) read with 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC, CBI judge Lalloo Singh said that there was ample evidence against these persons for kidnapping and conspiring to kill the pilgrims in the name of terrorists.
The most important question is why it should take 25 years to convict the accused. There is immediate and urgent need to conduct a study of Legal Processes being carried out in the country and find the causes for such long delays and find solutions to expedite it. more

The court take the cognisance only in the matter brought before it. As there is NO Complaint from any person the Court is restricted/limitations to refer the same. Some body mainly the near and dear one of the victims family have to lodge the copmplaint in the matter so to bring all the culprits before the Justice. more
Why there is no enquiry of such a delay in the judgments. Justice delayed is justice denied. Are the judges accountable at all? Are they not taking salary? more
Lack of severe punishment is the cause for sincere crimes more
It is Not only the question of time, BUT also the sufferings of the Near and dear of the Victims, when the Culprits mainly the Govt. Officials NOT only failed to perform their legitimate duties BUT also mis-leaded and mischievously misguided by abusing their power and authorities. They are also equally responsible - must be brought before the Justice. more
Provision for BAIL SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR CULPRITS CHARGES AGAINST SERIOUS CRIMINAL CASES UNLESS IT IS PROVED TO BE INNOCENT. DELAYING SUCH CASES MAY LEAD SOCIAL MORAL ASSASSINATION. SUCH CASES MAY BE DEALT IMMEDIATE DECISION. more
