Kejriwal - This is Revolution
Kejriwal said the people of Varanasi will get nothing if Modi wins as he will leave the seat and go to Vadodara in his home state of Gujarat. Modi is contesting the polls from both Varanasi and Vadodara.
"This is not an election, it is a revolution and Varanasi is the birthplace of revolutions. People must vote for me to defeat Modi. Please vote... not to make me win but to defeat Modi. There will be a political earthquake if Modi is defeated. People of Varanasi will not get anything if Modi wins because he will leave for Vadodara on May 17 and resign from here. Within a month, Varanasi will have to go to the polls again," Kejriwal told Aaj Tak aboard an express train to Varanasi.
He called for a change in Indian politics and said it is possible only if the Congress and BJP are defeated. If the Congress and BJP lose the election, there will be instability for a year and then an honest government will come after the next polls, he contended.
"Let there be instability in the homes of these netas. If Congress and BJP lose there will be re-elections, which will lead to a good and clean government," he said.
Kejriwal said only business houses want a stable government. "Politics will change if we defeat BJP and Congress. Imagine it is May 16 and the news says Modi loses in Varanasi and Rahul loses in Amethi. They want a stable government so that Ambani and Adani can loot us for five years. Manmohan Singh has given us the most stable government for 10 years but that stability also gave us the 2G and coal scams," he said while on his way to Varanasi in a train.
Attacking the Congress for having done nothing for the people, Kejriwal said he would campaign for Kumar Vishwas, AAP's candidate against Rahul in Amethi.
"What has Congress done for Amethi in the last 35 years? I will not hold rallies but directly interact with people. I will take direct questions from public," he said. Door-to-door campaigning, public meetings and 'nukkad sabhas' will be AAP's main tools for Varanasi where he will stay till polling day.
Refuting allegations that his party had contacted Quami Ekta Dal's Mukhtar Ansari, who withdrew his candidature from Varanasi, Kejriwal said, "I have never spoken to him. We don't do politics of caste and religion."
On AAP candidates returning LS tickets, Kejriwal said this was not a big problem. "The number of candidates quitting is very small. Five to 10 candidates quitting among 450 is no big deal. Our strike rate is less than 1 per cent," he said.
Speaking in Delhi earlier, Kejriwal intensified his attack on the BJP and said it could even go to the extent of killing its own people to come to power. He was referring to a recent sting operation which alleged the 1992 Babri mosque demolition was planned.
"My God.. the BJP people undertake the killings of Hindus, children and their own cadres.
They are not concerned with Hindus and Muslims. To come to power they are not going to spare anyone, all are equal for them," Kejriwal said while speaking in Delhi at the launch of the book Dehleez Par Dil co-authored by AAP spokesperson Dilip Pandey. more
