Key Railway Issues affecting citizens - Inputs on Root Causes

It is great to see many more members join the Railways Circle. So everybody has a chance, we are re-posting this item.
The following key Railway issues commonly affect Citizens:
1. Lack of cleanliness of coaches/ stations/ toilets
2. Unhygienic Food
3. Difficult online/offline ticket booking systems
4. Lack of safety on tracks – accidents happen far too often
5. Corruption and discretion with TTE
6. Lack of timeliness of trains
7. Crowding of stations/platforms by people without travel and platform tickets
Please identify root causes for the above issues and submit your views by End of Day Friday, July 25th.
Once complete, we will together identify Solutions and submit the Whitepaper for action to the Railway Ministry.

Food Quality is very poor in some of trains, No security checks many times. Whenever any accident occurs then high for a few days. more

In our country there are several key issues...since we have people from illitrate to highly qualified, poor to rich, different langauge and different culture.....but common to every one Indian Railway needs severl S's to honestly implement........... 1. Safety 2. Security 3. Speed 4. Sanitation 5. Service and there regular monitoring and responsible should be punished either user are service provide at what so ever level... more

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE Self and wife were the bone fide passengers of 3A class in Train no 12624 ex TRIVANRUM - AVADI (CHENNAI) on 17.07.2014. Our traveling was truly unpleasant due to the violent and frequent jerking of the entire train throughout our journey. My preliminary discussion with the TTEs of the train reveals that the Railway is not bothered to do away with those newly introduced Box type (compartment) coupling system, which although found to be faulty, uncomfortable and dangerous. Why Railway is once again waiting to see some major accident to decide on this issue. Let this be the last complaint for the Railway to wake-upand do away with those unsafe system immediately or at least by discontinue those coaches from service forthwith. Prevention is better than cure.  Further as a Professor of an Engineering academia in Chennai would like to offer services with my students to study the problem thoroughly and to provide adequate technical solutions if any. You may provide permission for us to visit ICF or other Railway workshops where we can study the system design and modify the same with adequate analytical software tools keeping safety and comfort of the passengers in mind.
