It is not a one off incident. Almost every doctor, more so in super-specialty hospitals, there is a trend for doctors to send the patients for a battery of tests and also refer to other specialties for expert opinion. While it could be genuinely needed in some cases, there are many instances where, even if the patient has the test report of 2 days' back, he or she has to undergo repeat test as the previous test was not recommended by the current doctor, so the current doctor missed out on the commission. The government should bring the Medical sector under regulation and put a complete ban on commissions paid by Pathology & Diagnostic laboratories to doctors. Also there should be no targets for doctors in corporate hospitals so that they can practice while remembering their Hippocrates' Oath which they took while completing the MBBS course. Then only we can revive the faith of the common man on the doctors, whom we consider as Gods. Let these 'Gods' do not exploit blind faith of the patients. more

Why Apollo Hospital spared by J.P.Nadhha? How is it possible that without knowledge and cognizance of top management of hospital these kind of rackets operate? The licence of Apollo should be cancelled with immediate effect. more

While it would be a welcome movement, there is no reason to believe that the Health Minister and the Prime Minister are not aware of such heinous acts of certain groups of greedy people. As stands today, our country has, apparently, become a land of anarchy which needs to be streamlined with iron hands but who will ring the bell as none of our politicians would have put their political ambitions at stake to bring back the nation on the track. more
