At the first instance, if it is avoidable then please don't go for it. Take second or even third opinion also from a far away hospital from your home and clearly tell them that you are here for second opinion and for surgery at that hospital will be cumbersome for you since it is away from your house. Probably, you may get good advise. In case, you wisely decide to go for it, take good care of following points: Age of the patient - higher the age, more the complications Other ailments - if present, then recovery may be a problem or prolonged Post surgery physiotherapy - the most essential part as without it, surgery will be a fiasco Post surgery instructions - must be followed religiously, else again there will be no benefit of surgery Doctor's attitude - even if Doctor is a renowned one but not empathetic in post surgery consultations, you may feel some problem Patient's attitude - Should always remain optimistic and able to bear pain, may be for 3 to 4 months. In fact, all these situations were faced by me in my mother's case and despite having got surgery done at a leading hospital of NCR and by a renowned Doctor, my mother's mobility has dwindled drastically and limited to essential chores only. As far as cost is concerned, it appears to be OK. Wish you all the best. more
Narinder Sharma, I had advised you in the morning mail that I got my both the replacement from Dr Vivek Logani. My 50 years old friend got the surgery done from him two years back n then his sister also got surgery of both the knee from him n third was his sister-in-law also got both knees replaced by him through computer navigational procedure which is zero tolerance hence you do not require any Physio n it is painless. You are up the next day with walker and third/ fourth day you walk with stick. I got my both the knee replacement done from him after studying the method very minutely and discussions. I checked the price at DELHI, Bangalore n Gurgaon. I also checked prices also at all three places and found Dr Vivek Logani most competent and dependable. What he says is perfectly right. The is about 5lacs including medicines while in hospital and seven days stay if required otherwise patients leave after 4th or fifth day. I had mentioned that I got my surgery done on 20th September and after 20 days I was on my own walking with or without stick and performing all my duties myself. more
Mr Sharma, what you say sounds very impressive. Can you please also share contact details about Dr Vivek Logani? more
Any doctor would prescribe surgery as that way they also earn name, fame and money. The costs are also an issue.I know of cases who were able to walk little bi without support earlier but cannot walk at all after surgery. You are a knowledgeable person yourself, what is natural is natural and anything added on the body may have its own consequences.I know just one thing that even in worst of circumstances, surgery must be the last option to choose. You and your mother are the best person to think for your mother , dont listen to tens of people.Decide for yourself.take as many opinions as possible from various doctors. In Delhi Dr.B.D. Pandey at Fortis NOIDA is also very good. more
Cost is too high ..... more
My sincere advise is to address the problem by any natural means achieving long term solutions. Any surgery should be the last resort only. May the God help all the people to understand the natural process involved in our body. more
