Krishna water flows through 1,300 KM from west to east . The floods are near the Upstream almost a 750 Km before it crosses Karnataka, Telengans to reach A.P. Also several Dams & Barrages . The flow isn't at the speed of Airplanes . It days to cover a 100 Km . And as the basins will be stone dry , there will be seepage and feeding of underground aquifers . The canal from Srisailam in Telengana to Kandaleru Reservoir in Chittoor dt. From Kandaleru it comes to poondi . It is open flow , through dry parched landscape . Only if there is continuous rain and continuous flow will we be able to realise the water from Kandaleru . Water from Mettur to Tiruchirapalli takes 4 days to cover a distance of 100 km.Immagin how manys it will take . Through what path does the Krishna river flow? - Quora https://images.app.goo.gl/qmK1Jb9XAbb8BBfMA Anyway Vilas Thanks you have brought out the water source for thee citizens of Chennai . more
It is a very good idea to divert excess water in one river system to another area where there is scarcity. In doing so proper care should be taken to see that environmental problems are not created. As others have pointed out Tamilnadu is a peculiar case where politicians of both the Dravidian groups are vying for power to loot the exchequer and are least bothered about the people's problems. This is the only reason for perennial water crises. Tamilnadu in general especially coastal and central TN face recurring water crisis due to deficiency of rains. Therefore long term measures are called for to solve the problem without relying on short term quick fixes along. People should also wake up and demand from their political masters long term solution for the problem, else there is no solution to this crisis. more
