lack of parts with the authorized service centres
In my Vento fuel injector had to be replaced. It took more than a week to get. A rear windshield had to be replaced. It took almost 10 days. I requested for less expensive windshield without defogger but I was told that once they input the serial number of car, I cannot get any other part than what is meant for that car. How can this be? Defogger is never used, then why should it be compulsory?
Almost 7 year old Honda City recently had fuel pump problem. Cannot find pump in market. Authorized service centre in Madurai took 7+ days to get the part for replacement.
Jetta had one window control switch problem. I had to buy very expensive full control unit with all 4 switches to replace one switch. Again had to wait for more than a month.
Hyundai radiator cap was missing so I went to Hyundai service centre to purchase one. He refused to give me until I give the vehicle serial number!
Should not minimum spares worth at least one car be maintained by each service centre? Or there should be at least one spare part stock centre in each city for each manufacturer to provide quick service.
Why should sale of parts be so tightly controlled by manufacturers? Why cannot they sale parts to anyone who want to buy genuine part and repair his vehicle by third party experts or himself?
There should be some standards set for these manufacturers and strictly monitored for compliance. more
