Late running of train

Why the government should not pay compensation to the passengers on late running of the train. Everyone has its scheduled work. Someone has appointment with doctor. Someone has to face interview for job etc. Someone has to take exam. Someone has to catch the connecting train. But in all circumstances, if train are running late everyone fails to complete his planned work. Railway don't clear in one instance, that how much late any train will b running. Sometimes it starts from 10 minutes to 2 hrs. The authority don't try to improve the late running of train. Hence, the railway should pay compensation to the pessanger if the train is getting late. more

The issue was discussed at length in this circle in the past and as I remember, it was informed that the matter was under examination of the railways but the out comings thereof remained unknown. more
I don know which agency will be tracking the timings of the train to give compensation. Its seems that the railway and the govt is playing around with the passengers... Lets take the example of 16525 Kanyakumari Bangalore express. This train is scheduled to reach Bangalore city at 7:20 am . and whitefield at 5:59 am . The train is usually late by 30- 45 minutes at whitefield but always reaches rt time at the destination. So according to railways it is rt time more
I partially agree with Sri Yadav for providing compensation to passengers. This is not feasible as only few irctc tickets are there. Manual ticket holders will not get any thing. Instead the following is suggested;; 1. The loco running staff and the signal man (each) should make to pay Rs.1 per minute of delay which should be recovered from their salary. 2. This penalty should be credited to an account which can be utilized subsequently on popular topics like Safety fund, cleanliness fund, medical aid fund etc. 3. The lethargy of the station/cabin/running staff causes these delays. For instance, when some funny interlock system taken up near Nagpur, two years back, trains gained late of 3 to 5 hours. But when the train admitted to Nagpur platform, each train had stayed there for 20 to 30 minutes. Why? Can't these trains leave within 5 minutes. 4. Secondly, there are traffic delays on road. But for Rail engine, they need not negotiate any thing enroute. Pure lethargy or overtime to running staff is causing more delays. 5. All the passengers should be paid 100% of the total fare at the destination station on production of physical ticket, if any train is delayed by 3 hours. web tickets can be paid directly online. The DRM should be made responsible for the delays in his Division. more
A standard late can be considered, but not more than that. Suppose one journey is fixed for 20 hours, so can consider a late 30/40 minutes. more
The penalty for compensation to passengers should be realized by the rail employees responsible (either single or multiple). Delay has NO reason. Before major rail stations, all trains will be stopped although timings exist for every train to reach the station. In India only penalizing will bring result. Governments also play politics to earn votes and introduce so many new trains when the existing trains are unable to bej operated well. Hope good sense will prevail. We do not need new trains for vote purpose, but good service by existing fleet. more
