Law for badmouthing by competing businesses
We have seen that competing businesses get into bad mouthing of their counterparts in front of the customers, which creates a dirty impression to the customer.
As observed in many countries, we also need a law to protect businesses from bad mouthing and defamation/ill-reputation.

The topic is badmouthing by competition and not by the customer. In my 30+ years of sales experience I have concluded that badmouthing your competition may get you short term gains, but in the long run, the customer does not respect you, even if you succeed in getting the business by showing competition is poor light. Incidentally, this is true not only in business but in politics. As for legal recourse to such situations, it would not help since the procedure takes so long that it is futile - might as well spend that time and money on showcasing your product/service and let the customer be the judge. more

Bad mouthing or undesirable, uncivilized conduct is initiated by the electrolyte the blood carries to one's brains. To have desirable civilized way of life, we need to keep the electrolyte clean from pollution. Most of the leading brand of any goods or services, make buy or make decisions based on cut throat cost accounting & competition that any supplier is able to survive after paying the commercial borrowings. The branded manufacturers or service providers charge huge chunk of the cake for their business TRUMPs & cosmetology. Should these not realize that NONE of us brought a dollar at birth nor carry one while leaving the world. On close scrutiny, our life can be just reduced to DREAMS as holding a deadly snake and shouting for some one to help & rescue us or like find in the dream a huge Gold mine only to regret in the morning on waking up that we forgot to keep a few gold coins for the days. So is the real life. I am concerned, researched and have a Uniquely packaged content in a cinema script form for the world audience to democratically awaken the world to leave a civilized world to our own dear children instead of leaving them huge wealth of LIFE FULL OF FEAR, TO SURVIVE ONLY SO LONG THAT OUR CHILDREN HAVE SOME THING TO PAY THE PROTECTION MONEY. Right to Choose and Right to Education should be respected. It is the right of the consumer to get educated about the product and services and compare before purchase. The competition compel the seller to tell the perspective consumer about other competitive products and services on prices, quality and usage. more

Badmouthing whom? If a product or services are below the standard established, or published in their promotional brochures are found false, and not relevant, badmouthing is the only solution. Going Consumer redressal forums is of now use as their decisions are biassed and influenced and complaints are thrown out on technicalities. It is a good idea to walk into their office or shop and give them a piece of your mind but with solid proof. Recently a so called "reputed" paint company ( an MNC to boot) took Rs.23.80 lakhs to paint our residential complex against an agreed Rs.15.50 lakhs. The paint was four years old and was lying in their warehouse which they palmed off to the Apartment Owners Welfare Association making over Rs.1.80 lakhs. I have taken up the matter from the Zonal Manager to the CEO of the company in India and abroad. Zonal Manager lost his job and the fight is still on.I have published photographs of the poor quality of the paint and its application. I received a lot of response from public for exposing their MNC tag and the poor ethics of business. I am of the opinion "badmouthing" is powerful tool to expose the black sheep's in the business. more

Generally business thrives and customer benefits because of healthy competition. Products in general are bought for personal or public use. The manufacturer should provide all information on the product and its application clearly so that it is used for the intended purpose. In our country still the sale is by word of mouth. It may be consumer durable, or house maintenance good or provisions etc. Here the brand name plays a major role because of customer information. However many others try to imitate it and are not successful as the original. since theirs are not sold as original they badmouth to customers saying bad about the competitor. Again after sales service is one wherein one can also bad mouth about the competitor. Today with developed technology there is no need to bad mouth and we can counter it with customer education. The bad mouthing cannot happen to a good product and it invariably aimed at poor quality ones. more
