Laws against Ragging
Yesterday 22 IIT Kanpur students have been suspended for 1-3 years for ragging. A police complaint hasnt been filed keeping their future in mind.
This circle I found was probably the most relevant to get a policy going on getting a national policy against abusive and physical ragging.
I feel some ragging which leads to bonding between students is essential but it must not be abusive and physical.
How can a clear dos and donts be developed and converted into policy. more

Ragging per se may breed friend ship between seniors and juniors and may be help ful in the long run ,but it is proving to be exceeding the limits of decency as is being allowed now.Once there is no set pattern it crosses all bars,it takes a personal turn .There fore banning is correct .Many are traumatised, lost lives,left courses ,even become mad ,so the law must be enforced . We all have come through it but I still feel after 60 years it is not needed in its present form. more

The incidents carried in Colleges in the Escaping name of Ragging are really those punishable with 7 years imprisonment since the Private parts are so ill-treated , exhibited , else and else . It is time to record the issues underwent under Ragging as per the Reports and Suicide Notes held with Parents and Police Stations . Universities and Certain Collages are unsocially destroying such proofs and even the verbal witness of the class/holtel-meets just for their prestige and business stability . Educational Sector at least shall be set right and eradicated from Eve-Teasing and the socalled safely named Ragging . more

Friendly ragging to get to know one another should be encouraged, it must not hurt anyone's feelings. more
