Legal Metrology must act
Many of us visit retail stores like lifestyle homestore or future group big bazaar and when not able to find the products go on their websites to order products.
But these sites are totally non compliant to legal metrology rules. They list product above mrp. Many sites dont have mrp and best before date.
Just because they are retailer doesnt mean they dont comply with ecommerce rules of the Govt.

This initiative by Ms Sandhya is valid, realistic and needs a "follow-up" by the relevant authorities. more

Please note that Legal metrology is the application of legal requirements to measurements and measuring instruments. more

Businesses are giving a raw deal to consumers. Consumer Affairs Ministry, FDA, ISI, FASSI, etc. are short on performing their duties and not creating enough awareness. Such attitude from Government Agencies NOT TO SEEK IMPLEMENTATION OF THEIR OWN RULES provide a loophole to the businesses inasmuch as (i) a few customers only would make complaint, (ii) still a few would follow up their complaint, (iii) penalties and compensation are not seen. As such, the businesses go scot free many a time with little change in their habits. Hence, making a complaint to Consumer Grievance Portal alone would not suffice. Agencies have to work proactively and take suo motu action against the offenders. more
