If your mobile is registered with UIDAI, you can correct your name online. PF authorities are llinking Aadhar by taking bio-metric verification. I got an eye scan at the Department Counter for no charge. Authorise facilitators will charge a fee for all this work so if PF office is far away from your location, this option would be cheaper. Correction in Aadhar can be done by sending postal request or through a registered person for a fee also. more  

In PF details are generally entered by employer and I have seen lot many variations happening by them before EPFO was digitised. Even now the entries and changes are only done by employers and employee have to request employers to do same. Not sure, why the employee details (expect for job confirmation) updates should be with employer? Once Aadhar linkage is done, I am hopeful this process wouldn't exists. Till such time, like me and many more would go through panic process with not much option but to deal with it and create some noise so that requisite authorities takes it up for betterment. more

It's really ridiculous, technology has grown & is not being utilised properly to simplify the process. One example, Telecom ( Mobile SIM ) Aadhar link is made simple with biometric authentication. Why not, the same process be implemented in EPF too? Atleast, the grievance on the issue gets settled instantly. One department follows & simplifies the issue, while the other complicates. more
