Liquor Business in Delhi: Experiences and Inputs

Based on the inputs received in multiple Delhi and consumer circles, it appears that there are issues in the way liquor business works in the state of Delhi.

The citizen inputs in different circles of Delhi suggest that there may be corruption, evasion, profiteering, overcharging that may be happening, leading to increased cost for consumer and loss of revenue for Delhi Government. Loss of Government revenue means less funds available for developmental and critical initiatives like education, healthcare, civic services, etc.

LocalCircles would be conducting a survey over the next few days to get to the bottom of this and encourages that if you or your family purchases liquor, you do participate.

Meanwhile, if you have any inputs or experiences to share on this subject, please do share. more

All Liquor, Wine and Beer sale should be against a computerized receipt on each and every outlet. more
There is no immediate solution for cheating. The best that can be done as a start is that no liquor sale (or any other sale for that matter) should be permitted without a computerised Receipt system in every outlet. No one should have any doubts about the statements made by some that there are no laws. There are enough laws and there are also equally large number of methods to circumvent the laws. Breaking of law also depends on all of us as BUYERS. Stop buying from any shop for any item if the shop keeper does not issue a computerised printed receipt. Let US DO OUR WORK. Shopkeepers will get their due punishment automatically. more
Shops are promoting pumped brands means they are greasing palms of salesmen/shop manager to promote their brand. Why stocks for desired popular brands are not available ? more
