Liquor Shops - Different Solution

Seems like the liquor shops have gone totally out of hand. Please see attached. The only reason to keep liquor trade open is govt revenue.

Either the States should shut liquor shops or find a home delivery mechanism. This cannot continue.

The nation is under complete lock down for around one and half months now and all revenue related activities and productions at all industries are at standstill since then. Virtually the revenue generation for government treasury is also almost nil. However, this has not reduced the government liability nor our expectations. Under such a situation, the government had left with no alternative but to allow relaxation in certain areas. Charity can't be continued indefinitely without a source of income. Under such a situation what's the wrong in allowing the liquor shops to open being the source of lumpsum revenue and when liquor is not prohibited. Central as well as all the state governments are in urgent need of large funds and their tax collections for the lock down period has come down to almost nil and selling liquor is one of the best resources to garner their income. Supporting the decision does not necessarily testify that I am a drinker and for the members' information, I don't drink. However, adequate care must be exercised to ensure strict compliance of the laid down precautions in this regard. more
