Long Covid US data is worrying, India must act

2-4m Americans are not working due to long Covid. This is costing ~$170 billion annually in lost wages alone.

https://www.brookings.edu/research/new-data-shows-long-covid-is-keeping-as-many-as-4-million-people-out-of-work/

This doesn’t even count those without severe disability but have acute events (including deadly ones) due to organ damage including blood clots, pulmonary embolism, stroke, etc.

India should estimate this. There is nothing that I know is being done to look after long covid patients in India more

Sit in home isolation . don't spread in Society more
Immunity plays a big role, and here Indian citizens have a very high natural immunity compared with Americans, because of our greater exposure to pathogens, especially among the poor. India residents have been so primed over centuries, being an old civilisation, having faced the spanish flu over a century back, i.e. 1918 when over India took over 1.7 crore fatalities. Fatalities in India this time, too have been underreported. Then also being more vaccinated, helps India. Our tropical climated also saves us, as the virus, over 29 degrees celcius perishes. Feeding India's population a greater concern given that Covid has pushed 23 crores Indians into poverty. Not everything hunky dory though. Compared to US, Our cities remain highly polluted. These factors cause breathing problems. In all environmental care also a must. more
Apparently exact cause of spread of Covid is yet to be established. Yet there is no harm in taking appropriate precautions. Avoiding crowd is the basic necessity in the present times. more
Firstly, Americans are the least healthy among the developed world. So, taking their example is a bad idea! Recent news indicates that those who quit their jobs are planning to return to the workforce as their stimulus cheques have been used up, their crypto and stock gains have vanished, and they have come back to reality. Thirdly, is "long covid" actually "mRNA magic"? more
I do not get to know anything from this post. Is the author worried about US or India. more
