Traveled by Hamsafar express after a long time...much improvements in terms of all outsourced resources... food orders taken from station canteens...less noise in between stations....cleanliness maintained...but all staffs asked for tips at the end....food sold without bills....so cash is in very high demand in this journey....train reached destination after six hours....long way to go more

Result of privatisation and "out sourcing". A section of railway employees have been converted to beggars!!! What a shame!! more
Food without Bills is not Criteria of Complaint, Have You paid Extras for food , Water , Tea etc. In some Railway Train Canteen sold some Good quality of tea costing Rs. 20 /00 It is good & worth its price. If The waiter & cleaner is Cleaning your coaches lying with tea Cups, Spoiled Dishes kept Under the seat then t is not their fault. Peoples should pay them for Non Performing their Social Engineering Responsibilities. I am Frequent Traveller of Rail & flights but The Indian Peoples attitude is very low & worst. and Particularly in A.C. Classes it is worst because they paid money for Luxury ????? Even Few cleaning contractor told that AC Classes are supposed to be very clean than sleeper but In fact these are dirty than sleeper. more
That is why I say that instead of privatising the PSUs etc., it is the incompetent, corrupt and inefficient government that needs to be privatised! A limited tender enquiry (LTE) should be floated to UK, USA, Russia, China and N. Korea and the lowest bidder may be given the right to set our lousy govt. administration right. The country's condition is worsening day by day. Despite all the hype, the Railways are in a mess; people are still carrying nightsoil on their heads; education system is in the doldrums; health services are third- rate.... Yet we say, " Mera Bharat Mahan." This can happen only in a country of morons. more
My experience of buying platform ticket at New Delhi station is same as of Mr Job Xavier. At the crowded place and tension (coolies make the life more miserable) platform, .... accessing irctc or UTS app is impossible...... more
Yes, long distance travel requires good amount of cash for en-route. Chain goes as : taxi/auto fare; coolie (200-400) at bigger stations; purchase of food items in train or at stations; tip to bearer; penalties (if any); coolie at destination; local taxi/auto/rikshaw...... Railways should find the ways to implement e-payments..... more
