Loot by Pharma Companies Part II

Here is another concrete evidence of loot by Pharma Companies. There is an eye drop formulation containing Timolol 5mg and Brimonidine 2mg combination. MRP of different products available in market, for 5 ml bottles, is as follows:

1. Brimotas T Eye Drop manufactured by
Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd having MRP₹ 109

2. Iysetra Life Eye Drop manufactured by Taj Pharma India Ltd having MRP₹ 114

3. Brimocom Eye Drop manufactured by Cipla Ltd having MRP₹ 264.50

4. Briopt Eye Drop manufactured by Zydus Cadila having MRP₹ 312

5. Globrim T manufactured by Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd having MRP₹ 128.75

6. Brimotim Eye Drop manufactured by Optho Remedies Pvt Ltd having MRP₹ 193

7. Combigan Eye Drop manufactured by Allergan India Pvt Ltd having MRP₹ 423.31

Accordingly, maximum price per 5 ml bottle is Rs. 423.31 and minimum is Rs. 109, a difference to the tune of 4 times.

Why is this huge difference in MRP? What is the correct price of the product? Any justification? more

The MRP of generic medicines is more than 10 times the selling price. Some diabetic medicines are sold for rs 12 for 10 tablets, where as MRP of the same is about 10 times more. Why? more
This racket has to stop. more
Speaking for the devil here - They may have used higher grade chemicals, better quality of equipment and certification of manufacturing facilities - untouched by air / hand (vacuum packed) ? more
How about going for Generic Medicines? more
We can see why the pharmacists called for strike on 28th inst. Isn't it for big profit margins. The companies charge the patients exorbitantly and give high commission to these pharmacies which is proved through online medical suppliers. Online pharma product distributors give approx. 25% discounts plus other perks. Don't they do the business with profits. So, just compare what could be the margin of profit fixed to these pharmacists to put the MRP as high as what you have shown. more
