Where ever the consumer purchase Jewellery the jeweller charges wastage varying from 3% to 30%. The wastage has to be returned to the consumer either in the form of Gold or Money. But the jewellers would not reveal to the consumer that the consumer entitled to redeem the wastage either as Gold or Money but the jewellers keep mum pertaining to the wastage, as if the wastage has to be paid by the consumer, and swindle the consumers money in the name of wastage. Really the wastage belongs to the consumer and it must be returned to the consumer. This way all over India the jewellers loot thousands of crores of Rupees daily from the consumers. more

It is time people woke up to such cheating by traders and fought unitedly. People should also fight against Autos who have not bothered to bring down the fasre despite Petrol Price falling by Rs.11/- in the past 3=6 months though with every in crease they go on increasing the fare. Wastage is the main source of profit for the jewellers. (Mr. Bhavesh has written in his post that there is loss of gold or silver while making jewellery. Where does it disappear - in thin air?) Since wastage is the source of profit, the jewellers offer schemes like 'no making changes' or huge concessions in making charges. Wastage rightfully belongs to the customers. I do not know if there can be cap on making charges legally. more
Now a days, most of the jewellers do not charge any thing extra or separately for wastage, but add making charges on a percentage basis, which goes up to 27 - 30 % depending upon the labour for making the particular ornament. It is a fact that the making charges jewellers taking from the customers may be much more than the actuals. I suggest Mr. Murthy to take up the issue for restricting the upper limit charged by jewellers as "making charges" of ornaments. more
Mr. Murthy I think u don't know about jewellery business. Wastage means loss of Gold or silver while making jewellery. which is not recoverable and so they r charging wastage + labour. But I can say that the actual loss is very less than they r charging so u can fight for it.but I think after all they will charge u more labour instead of wastage and if u need it u have to pay for it. And I would like to say that we have to fight with every manufacturer or treders like coca cola,Pepsi, lays, dominos, pizza hut etc. Coz their mfg. Price are to low but they r charging too much. more
