Mr. Vikas, Macular hole may be caused by normal aging. The vitreous can shrink and pull away from the retina, sometimes creating a macular hole in the process. Injury or trauma: some young people develop macular holes after blunt trauma. Diabetic eye disease. High degree of myopia (nearsightedness). The root cause of this or any other eye disorder is Free Radical Atttack on the optic nerves (including retina) that causes degeneration of optic nerve tissues. If not addressed comprehensively, this may ultimately result in irreparable damage to eyes and vision.
