Mad use of RO water purifiers in Homes
A group of scientists, govt.organozations like NIRI,NGOs have suggested that where ever the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) level is 500parts per million there is no need to use ROpurifiers it only wasteful expenditure . N where ever the groundwater is used for reducing the TDS that is the water softener plants ,having TDS level above 500 onwards, there also if the treated water TDS is lowered to 200 n even below, it is not advisable to use ROwater purifiers in homes.
If people use such RO purifiers they are subjectable to lose essential minerals which can lead to some health problems.
So we all must think n make use of any such system twice before buying it. The water quality must be checked before purchasing any such purifiers n that too for the year round water quality in all seasons, where ever people have to use ground water / bore well water.The water quality changes as per the seasons particularly summer and monsoons. more

If we do too much of filteration then our body's resistance power reduces and immunity will also reduce.Hence Filter only up to the level what is a must.Many a time we may loose important minerals that are needed for the human body. more

To my memory a little close to two decades before, Eureca Forbes sales man would knock every door, explain, try to convince and sell its RO unit without telling anything regarding hardness, bacteria, dissolved minerals and filtration etc. Not only illiterate, less educated or poor, many from upper bracket of urban society would take this RO without asking a question. When I decided to go for a simple filtration with UV purification unit for hardness level less than 200, no seller came out with suitable option other than RO. After a long search of more than a year or so I could lay my hands on Philips make simple unit but again the salesman were not equipped with hardness measuring instrument. They would also not say that about 30% of water of RO goes waste which off very late the manufacturer started to campaign to reuse for watering or cleaning or washing purpose to conserve water. The fact is, most of the Indian manufacturer are never explain all pros & cons of their product and fool the people. They only keep in mind the number of units sold at the earliest opportunity. We need to have strong punishable law enforcement for any product being introduced in market. more
