Madness in tomato prices

Tomato prices may escalate more than Rs.200/kg in AndhraPradesh and Telangana.

The price of Tomatoes has crossed Rs.150/kg in the Anantapur wholesale market. Due to scarcity of tomatoes, reached a record high of Rs 2,300 for a crate (15kg box).

And media is busy touting how 10000 kg of tomato was sold on sarkari website. RIP Indian
media. more

There is an alarming rise in Food items, may be around 40-50%. Many a Kisan's are also becoming Filthy Rich. Govt does not want to tax them because of Vote Politics. more
Kisan and filthy rich? Nope. The benefits of most of these price rise are taken by the hoarders. Kisan has no means to store tomatoes or other crops and wait for price rise. It's the rich traders who store them and even if it doesn't sell, they use it for products like sauce etc. more
The price rise is not only in tomatoes. There is appreciable price rise in all vegetables. There is a price rise of 15% on rice in the last 2 months. Dals has gone up by 30-40%, I think. more
Madness it is. Where is the relief by the Government - State or Centre?. more
The beauty here is neither the Farmer nor the Customers are benefitted. It is sheer foolishness. Boycot Tomattoes for a month the price will come down to Rs.10 per kg. This is just politics. more
