Mafia in Markets/Business - Key Issues

Mr. Shashidhar Bhat had initiated this subject in March. Today, we would like to seek your inputs on Mafia in the market place/business. Kindly list every mafia issue that you are familiar with. Examples being, mafia in construction, private road transport, sand, liquor trade, weekly markets, street vendors, land acquisition, Government supply and many other similar areas.

Together, let us understand the issues and then we will work towards understanding root causes and solutions separately to make specific recommendations to the Government.

We look forward to your inputs! more

The T. V. Channels display & presentation of programs with too many types of advertisements even in the said to be " 24 hours news Channels " really leads to the nature of Business houses which cannot be in the purview of journalism and is known to all these Channels managements . The carry of these in the same way will give way for many issues. This is my understanding . more
IS THE JOURNALISM IS ALSO CONTROLLED BY SOME MAFIA? PLEASE ADVISE. more
Society runs under licence with the requisite bye-laws and the memorandum , terms & conditions having Executive committee meeting quarterly or as may be required with one general body meeting in a year and their operations & accounts are to be promptly recorded and resolved . Whether it is such registered or not is the first point. the second is that , such demands fall under Extortion that is prohibited which was an Issue discussed in our circles. more
A new kind of mafia has sprung up in the city of Mumbai. I do not know if the same occurs in other cities but we have experienced it in Mumbai. Co-op Housing societies are forcing persons who wish to sell or even lease their flats to donate an astonishing sum of money to the Society. If you do not comply with their request they will not give the NOC for the sale or lease of your flat. If you wish to lease your flat you have to pay them a sum of one month's rent for every year you give it out on lease. They take an undertaking from you on stamped paper that you are giving this amount as donation as the Society is in need of funds. The victim definitely loses out in a court of law as the treacherous society members have done their research well. People who do not stay in the city but have a flat which they need to lease to cover the enormous amounts of maintenance charges per month are forced to give in to this kind of blackmail. This is not done by thugs but by rich Committee members of the Society. They have not even put this in the General Body meeting of the Society! Can the government do something about it? I would suggest the Income Tax authorities question the Committee members on the same and do something about it. more
