Swachh Bharat Mission
Maintaining Waste and Dirty Spaces in a City
1. A list of all the waste and dirty places should be made by the municipalities
2. The garbage should be outsourced to private recycling companies for a fee to help them start up
3. These companies should also be made responsible to maintain the garbage area
4. While considering layouts of residential colonies, the municipalities can insist on earmarking particular spaces for dumping garbage
5. Fence could be put around the area and lighting could be arranged which gives good appearance
6. RWAs could be given a list of such areas around their colony and asked to keep them encroachment free and maintain them
7. Once these dirty places are cleaned the Residents should make sure that they do not spoil these places again
8. Local Corporator / Counsellor should be tasked to organise volunteer groups for the upkeep of these places
9. Many spaces are allotted for green space in the city and are generally located in front of big office buildings or near it. The city administration can develop it and hand it over to many companies who can maintain these places as a social responsibility
10. Municipal commissioners should closely work with large corporates in the city who can easily adopt some of the spaces from a renovation and ongoing up keep perspective and get branding or CSR credit in return.
