Make appliance servicing efficient

I think for small appliances 90% of Indians get their appliances repaired locally rather than trying to find out where is the service center for a kettle and mixi. These service centers are highly inefficient and time consuming and hence people get repairs done locally.

Can BIS make some standards where the appliance makers service network is required to come home pick and repair the appliance and deliver it.

Even if its not mandatory, it will be big differentiator for brand offering such a service. more

After sales services has got to be from the company owned Service Centre. The consumers are right and their Rights should be protected by the Governments in the States/UTs. more  
Actually the calls to Sales Department and Service Department are really Contrasing . If you dont get a sales call , there is a call from there promptly and they haunt you ill you buy . Not so after payment is made , as there ends the contact with the sales Department . Service side always ducks from the complaints and delay the visits or even attending calls as friends have mentioned . I THINK WE MUST ALSO DEVELOP STRATEGIES LIKE GETTING THE NUMBER BEFORE MAKING PAYMENT AND MAKE A TRIAL CALL TO CHECK IF WE GET " YOU ARE IN Q, OUR EXECUTIVES ARE BUSY ". more  
lot of companies give e mail address and toll free numbers which does not work and no one responds and the toll free numbers are like once it rings you may have to hold it for nearly half an hour so out of frustation you disconnect.Some of the strategies adopted by reputed companies. There should be some guidelines for servicing and if not then fine should be put on the company. more  
Mr. Ashok is right and I second it. The GoI should take some action. more  
Service centers and feed back system will improve the brand image. It is known to seniors of those brands. Issue is that they do not take care while selecting the service centers. opponents. Many companies do not have working feedback system. It is generally thought that feedback means complaint. Automated call centers test your patience. more  
Not only service centers it should also be made mandatory for all service centers to provide genuine spare parts in the open market after a product is launched for at least 10 years from the last product sale date. more
