Make garbage and recyclable collection points in every neighborhood, town, village

This is a picture of a garbage collection point in a remote village in Switzerland.
1. (Left enclosed in grill) Garbage must be packed in local government approved bags which can be bought at local stores. The money goes to pay for the whole waste management process, equipment, employee salaries etc.
2. Blue tall bin - Recyclable PET bottles
3. Red Bin - Tin cans crushed by the mechanism
4. Brown/Green glass bottles
5. Clear glass

Additionally, there is a larger deposit point in every village where cartons, newspaper, packaging materials, styrofoam, broken machines/bikes, electronic equipment, furniture, etc. are accepted.
All of that are taken to states recycling centers and waste-to-energy plants.
Those who break the rules are fined heavily.
By the way, there is about 2% recycling fee already included in the price of every piece of electronics sold.

How wonderful it would be to have this kind of system all over India. We can do it, we have the metal, concrete, engineers, and millions of workers. All we need is the commitment to keep our country clean. learn from others and implement a solid system. more

I agree with the idea of Mr. Ranbir Sinha. During my travel to the cities in some of the European countries and the UK, I noticed even in busy market places where lot of garbage is generated, one will not find anything on the roads or open places. There are large dedicataed bins placed and people throw the garbages in the dedicated bins. These are cleared every day by mechanized vehicles. During my trip to interior villages in the UK I could see the garbage bins on each street and market places and people judicially deposit the garbages in the bins. The local authorities in cities as well as villages should placae such coloured bins and insist the people to deposit the garbage in the bins only. With continued advertisements which are appearing in the media and little education to groom the children from the school levels, I am sure that we can achieve the dream of a Swatch Bharat as envisioned by our Prime Minister. Nothing is immpossible if there is the will to do it. more
All non-Recyclable trash to be sent to WASTE-TO-ENERGY plants should be put in government approved trash bags sold at local stores (see the blue bags on left in the concrete bin). In this way, those who produce more garbage pay more. The profit from the sales of the bags pays for the garbage management expenses, salaries, transportation, etc. more
I am working on a couple of plans to propose to the government and to the IITs to train millions of students/graduates with low cost/free teaching aids. I will post a synopsis one of these days. The idea is to send millions of Indians abroad, not the best brains, but the very well trained average ones. For now, please check out my free video on correct English pronunciation made primarily for Indians. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqi3laad9y4 These are the kinds of simple crash courses I am working on from English to Engineering, from civic sense to First Aid, one step at a time. Thank you again. more
please give some Thoth aboute skill management young student (0 %) course in school (0 %) more
Great scheme. I propose that residents get their garbage deposit quantity recorded and are given a tax incentive at the end of the year for the quantity disposed through the scheme. This will motivate them to deposit their trash only at nominated places. more
