Make Railway Better

1.Cleanliness in trains, platforms to be improved.
2. Build fencing/ wall along the line to prevent people easing themselves ,animals crossing or lying on the line, unauthorized use by people walking along the line, causing accidents. This will be required particularly when railways want to increase the speed of trains
3. Install security camera along the line at strategic points to keep a watch on subversive activities.
4. Automatic signaling to avoid train collision
5. Automatic braking of trains when driver overlooks signal.
6. Alert system to ensure driver does not dose off in motion.
7. Health check/ surprsise check of running to ensure that they are drunk on duty.
8. Automatic time recording of trains along the route to ensure punctuality
9. Recording of greviences, complaints, malpractices by railway staff during journey to be signed by the staff and a duplicate copy given on the spot. Acknowledge the receipt of complaint by concerned authorities and subsequently action taken.
10. Withdraw the free passes to railway staff after retirement and introduce concessional fares.
11. Withdraw all concessions including railway staff in Shtabdi/ Rajdhani and later bullet trains, when introduced.
12. Privatize maintenance of trains.
13 . Make pasting of posters, notices or disfiguring as punishable offense with imprisonment and fine
14. Spitting to be banned anywhere in the railway premises attracting severe punishment.
15. Vendors coming inside the train to be totally banned and railway staff to be held responsible for ensuring it.
16. Registers can be kept in stations to record observations of passengers more

cleanliness inside trains, food quality are two important things. charges can be on higher side but service delivery is must. more
Railway need to allocate responsibilities to its employees: Railway stations, platforms/ over bridges connecting platforms in many stations are occupied by vendors causing problem for the commuters. You can see this in many stations in Mumbai & Chennai. Many beggars live on the platforms with families. Many people who are not passengers or their relatives congest platforms. They do it right in front of the Station Master, CPRF contingent and many others. Does this mean that no one posted to the Station is responsible for maintaining railway station? Is it that only the Railway Minister is responsible and the Railway Dept couldn't care about the unauthorised occupants. Railways can collect revenue by giving the space on lease to vendors. We all know that the Hafta system benefits the local station authorities. Can't the Railway Board do something about this menace? Another big problem is beggars in trains travelling with you from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. I counted once about 80 beggars visited my compartment during my journey by Mumbai-Chennai Mail. Don't they pose serious security risk to the passengers? Another sorry state of affairs of lack of ownership for security in Railways can be seen if you visit Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus. When the Terminus was attacked by terrorists(Kasab), immediately we saw installation of magnetic detectors at entry points. I have never seen them working in the last many years. Why to install such systems just to make a point to the opposition in Parliament. Last point I want to make is about Railway employees putting up posters in Railway premises and ruining the entire surroundings. One can see all the union posters in Chennai. Railways is a public place and need to maintain customer friendly atmosphere. Hope some one some day take notice of such routine responsibilities and bring up the Railways. more
