Make Railways Better. Nomination in case of death.
Through this forum I would like to bring to the notice of passengers as well as Railways authorities the following:
In case of Accidental death during travel, Insurance companies pay the insured amount to the person who is nominated at the time of booking. I don't know what procedure Railways adopts to ascertain next kin of accident victim if he lost his life.
As far as online bookings are concerned the Railways can pay the compensation to the person who is nominated to receive the insurance claim and in case of counter booking a column can be added to the booking form for Nominee.

Brandon Collins :- since of late i have traveled by Andaman Express which i feel should have a cleaning schedule for this train of the general compartments the toilets were filled with what you say----. train passes through main stations and wait for loading at this period of time the cleaning can be done. Insurance companies are liable to pay and for which they have been paid hefty amount as premium. Please note that the accidental death has been decreasing due to the continuous improvement in the security measures, railway is taking on a on going basis. It will be better, if lump sum amount is paid to a Railway Passenger based on his class of journey, instead of paying the Insurance companies for the sum assured and hefty premium paid by the Railway authorities. more

There is a maximum age prescribed for insurance claim (probably 60 or 65) can be filed. Railways must explicitly mention on IRCTC website the minimum and maximum age for insurance. What is the use of paying premium when a passenger (because of age beyond, say 65) is not allowed for any type of claim whatsoever may be the reason.... Railways must put on IRCTC booking pages of website and also on the Booking Reservation Windows...... more

At the moment there is no maximum age limit only children below 5 years who are included in the parents ticket are not covered. more
