In general it ranges 10% and even socalled reputed jewellers have also use fooling method of saying customer no making charges no wastage etc,. and offer free lunch/snacks to gullible/innocent public to sell substandard gold, just to quote one incident.. few years ago (before ISI standardisation compulsion) I bought necklace from one of reputed jewellery store in Bangalore (Neelkant Jewellers, Richmond road, blore-25) and checked the quality it says 78% not even 80% of purity and they insisit if they resell to them they will take it same rate sold earlier, but very substandard, so I felt cheated with brand name !!! likewise unless you are expert of little knowledge of the product you got cheated by the cheating traders !! more
No standards as it is skill of gold smith and can charge any amount like boutiques. you can negotiate and if any Jeweller promise for any deduction, then you can ask specific detail for their norms as per designs or otherwise. more
