Making Not Spitting a Movement

Dear all:

Spitting is a very common sight in both urban and rural India and a big menace. Our streets, walls, public places are dirty due to spits.

We seek your specific inputs on what can be done to make Not Spitting a Movement.

Rarely, we find people spitting in developed countries so this is something that we can achieve if we all decide to.

We look forward to your inputs!

The people who spit don't give much care of civic sense or ideal values. To educate them is good idea as long as they are interested. The best possible way to discipline them is strictly follow anti-spitting law.Or probably like smoking the health hazards of spitting/littering locally and the disease they spread must be advertised. more
I accept, we need to transform India etc etc. But towards this cleaning India are real efforts being put up? Or they remain in paper? Once upon a time, before the movie starts we used to watch a short sort of film by the state/central govt, called news. Are they still there? I stopped going for movies and hence this question. If the govt is interested, then that system must be brought back, if this is missing. However instead of that being shown in the start, a suitable alternate time must be chosen where the public are forced to watch it. At least this cleaning campaign alone must be shown repeatedly, in a few shots. Will the govt do that? A 10% clean level itself is a great achievement then more
In our dirty / very dirty India - spitting is a habit inborn in our blood. To remove this habit Civic Sense is the only solution. When we get a chance to go abroad we change overnight -- no spitting - no littering - no urinating on the road - no sticking of posters on the walls. Why and how does this transformation come. Only through strict law and above that strict implementation of rules. Honest officers. HONEST OFFICERS. Proper infrastructure provided by the government. Proper Dust Bins, proper urinals, proper lighting in public places including roads. Strict punishment which would be awarded within days -- not months and years, as is the system of this country. Over and above a strong training of CIVIC SENSE. more
Forget about the common man spitting,Even cricket players playing in international matches spit on the field more
Spitting in public is a very bad habit and is common among well educated people. Creating awareness is the only way to stop this. With so many other burning issues in the country, this has taken a back seat but it is very important to stop to make Swatchh Bharath a reality more
