Making raiways better

Railways is a massive organisation with lot of inertia and legacy issues which the honourable minister is trying to change .we must understand that we can see lots of visible changes now as compared to the past. It will take some time as in the past ,not much efforts were made to focus on all aspects of the railways which is being done now .

As a citizen who cares for railways and appreciates it ,I have a few suggestions which need to be quickly put in place with the support of honourable PM sahib to overcome the issues
a) Railways should get at least 4 resident CEOs fully empowered who should be located in the south ,east ,west and north and they should be given powers to handle all areas like safety ,commercial ,investments ,development etc.
b) Railways should seek the support of all educational institutions, organisations etc as a CSR activity to contribute to various facility,
c) A user development fees of Rs 2 should be put for each ticket at each station so that the fund can be used for clean-up and upkeep
d) romping in IITs and technology providers to enhance maintenance /safety features through student study participation --Practise school /summer internship by railways to get inputs of students.
e)Toilets in stations should be maintained by private agencies round the clock .
f) Ticketing activity should be fully automated through machines and could be given to agencies so that the manpower can be deployed in other areas where there is shortage .

Indian Railways is our National Pride and we should contribute to its betterment.

These are few of the inputs for quick results . more

Most important thing to do by Railways for passenger safety is raise height of platform at par with train deck. This single improvement will save lakhs of people from falling between platform and train yearly. more
As a regular traveller, I guess one of the first things the railway needs to do is pay attention to Grievances reported by the passengers. At least where the passenger reports it in writing/ through official channels. That alone will help with the upkeep of the existing facilities. At present the attitude is to just "Close" the complaint saying "It has been noted and will be taken care of in due course". more
no doubt there is improvement on building infrastructure and improving passenger amenities. But, there is a BIG HIT on punctuality particularly in the NCR zone. Trains are getting as much as 2-12 h late in this zone . traffic congestion cannot an acceptable ruse as both winter fog and and traffic congestion had been there for long. So, why has such big deterioration taken place in last two years? If we analyse, it can be proved without difficulty that late late running of trains has very little correlation with traffic congestion. more
What is being done is only PR work be it Railway Minister or his Boss. Things have to be visible and daily giving a dose of threats will not help. Let us stop talking like a Raja in place create atmosphere of mutual trust. more
What are the developmental works done by the Railway minister except fooling the people like increasing the fare of Platform ticket , surging price at Rajdhani,Shatabdi, Duranto, High cancellation charges, 120 days advance booking etc etc? Excess and useless staffs, high salaries, huge corruptions are not seen by the honorable Minister. Rubbish!! more
