Marking wrong manufacturing date
Many many food manufacturers and suppliers in india mark manufacturing dates on packaged products ahead of the actual date to increase shelf life of product. They lie and cheat consumers.
FSSAI or legal metrology need to enforce this and their mfg and import licenses must be confiscated.
See attached example. Today is dec 30, 2018. Says product made in Jan 19 already in stores. more

IDEALLY, FSSAI SHOULD SEIZE SUCH PRODUCTS FROM THE STORE SHELVES UNDER CCTV COVER AND PENALISE THE OFFENDING COMPANIES HEAVILY SO THAT, THEY DO NOT DARE DO THAT AGAIN. IN INDIA, FSSAI IS A PARKING LOT FOR DISGRACED AND OUT OF FAVOR BUREAUCRATS AND THESE DEMOTIVATED STAFF JUST VILE AWAY THEIR TIME IN THEIR A/c PLUSH OFFICES AND COLLECT THEIR SALARY PROMPTLY. IT IS QUITE EVIDENT THAT THESE COMPANIES(including many MNC brands) ARE WELL AWARE OF THE ' DON'T CARE ATTITUDE ' OF FSSAI AND DO NOT HESITATE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SUCH ATTITUDE OF FSSAI..!!.. WILL THESE COMPANIES DARE ADOPT SUCH ATTITUDE IN A COUNTRY LIKE USA..??.. THEY WOULD NOT - BECAUSE ATTENTION FROM FDA IS THE UNWELCOME FOR ANY COMPANY OPERATING IN USA. HAS INDIAN LIFE BECOME SO CHEAP..??.. more

It is high time Indian bureaucracy did something to improve Indian food manufacturing’s reputation. They can start by enforcing existing laws. more
