Medical Devices MRP check

One of the big accomplishments of these circle last year was getting Govt to make MRP disclosure mandatory on medical devices.

Can the officials please plan to do checks at the hospitals in their cities to ensure compliance is happening on this. They should also check the factories/warehouse where these goods ship from.

The ones I can remember that this should be followd on are - heart valves, surgical dressings, condoms, stents, disposable hypodermic syringes and orthopaedic implants.

Also, I request officials to advise whether MRP is also mandatory on drugs? more

Citizen volunteers to check MRP issues regarding medical equipment may be encouraged. This can help the concerned departments who is not having sufficient manpower. Mobile numbers and mail address where the feedback/complaint can be informed be displayed prominently at all the concerned establishments. iI must be the responsibility of such establishment to keep that information at prominent place and legible and visible. more
The officials must examine the basis of MRP and take action in case of deviation. more
In case of Intraocular lenses used in cataract surgery most of the private hospitals charge many times MRP and these hospitals do not disclose separately the lense price but include the lenses in package price which is exhorbitingly high. FDA & NPPA, all health departments are silent on this issue and most of them are having clandestine partnership with such hospitals. Moreover the MRP of these imported lenses are also 500 to 1500 times then the rate at which these lenses are imported. Millions of senior citizens are thus victimised. more
Govt policies are not followed by Govt personals and Traders. Lets cry, Govt may listen to us. more
It may not be that easy for the officials to check the implementation of the MRP disclosure. However, it will be more appropriate if the consumers who experience such non-disclosure of Maximum Retail Price on medical devices bring it to the notice of the DoCA-Directorate of Metrology. Also, it should be binding for the hospitals not to charge more than the MRP on medical devices when billing the patients/attendants. more
