Medical Treatments Abroad

A friends father needs to be taken overseas for some cancer treatment. Here is my question:

Most countries like Singapore, hongkong, london and Usa have their insurance systems. Where is it most economical for a foreign national/indian to go for treatment. Is there some insurance they should buy before leaving. more

Doctors in India are very good. Go to Mumbai at the Tata Cancer Hospital. It compares to any Good Hospital Abroad. There is no Magic Wand here in USA. more
Devika. I am in USA. I will advice you to try the best Hospitals in India. The cost of treatment is exorbitant here. You have to have Medical Insurance in this country. You will find 30% of Doctors Here are from India. Treat your father in Indian Comfort. At this age He needs family support and comfort. Unless you have direct family support or you are super rich like Mallya, or a Politician do not think of Travelling Abroad with your father. more
No, my dear, NO travel insurance that you buy before embarking on your travel will accept a person who's already suffering from a disease like cancer. The insurance company brackets out existing diseases. And, if you do not declare these, there is NO way they'd entertain any kind of claim. Getting treated for cancer by ANY doctor can be just a matter of luck. Doctors outside of India are no miracle-makers. Indian doctors also do not always err in diagnoses. Based on the existing knowledge of "cure for cancer patients", the medical research has not yet found a panacea. It's still in the "hit and trial" phase. No one, but no one, will guarantee you "definite cure" for what your friend's father is unfortunately suffering from. more
