Medicine Prices To rise by 12 pct need action

I know LocalCircles has done tremendous work on getting prices of essential drugs in control. The news is that from April 1, prices of 900 formulations across 27 different treatment therapies will go up by 12%.

As it is prices of everything have been going up last 1 year and now earnings are going down so its double whammy.

What can be done to control this please. I dont think the trade margin capping was every implemented by Govt. Niti Ayog says this and that but never really does. Can we actually move something to cap trade margin?? more

a model was exhibited how introduction of GST will lower the medicine prices vis-a-vis excuse duty structure in 2017 by union govt. But since then GST is being upped every now and then. The manufacturers have also been taking advantage and are increasing prices. I am paying approx. 25% higher for medicines for my mother's treatment from what I was paying in 2019. To quote an example, Just a few days ago, torrent increased price of shelcal 500 by over 10% for God knows what reason. My medical insurance company also increased premium by nearly 25% quoting increase in healthcare practices. more
This is a very important issue. Pinch from every side. Poor really feel the most when med prices go up. Alternate is inaction and disease more
Govt. should do something to control the medicine price. It is in the interest of national health. more
Instead of administering prices of fuels (like petrol and diesel and LPG), which are supposed to be on free float but never are, govt should develop a price of administering essential drugs with govt support where required. more
