METERS SPEED AND THEIR CALIBRATION CERTIFICATE WITH CONSUMER
This is like a Global issue.In almost all cities and towns, Even the Tariff meters of taxies, autorickshaws, the petrol, diesel or gas meters , when they were calibrated last and when it is due for inspection next, never ever can be seen by the consumer or never displayed on the meter.The Weight and measure dept, under the consumer and civil supplies ministry has to do all these.
I have also written many times to the Consumer and civil supplies ministry thru' our local dist collector, the result is big zero.
As suggested by Mr. Ranade, I have also got checked my electricity and gas meters. The electricity bill is still high compared to my neighbors, having same number of electric gadgets, fridge, tv, washing machines, ...Unless and until the meter checking labs in each city. do it regularly , I don't see any solution to this , except keep on struggling. more

This issue must be looked into by the concerned dept. Everybody wants to be fooling the common man and make a loot how small it may be. Very unfortunate situation. more

SIR , AS FAS AS ELECTRICITY METER IS CONCERNED THERE IS A DEFINITE SYSTEM. I HAVE ALREADY GAVE OPINION EARLIER. I CLARIFY AGAIN. THERE ARE MILLIONS OF CUSTOMERS . IF ELE.METER IS RUNNING FAST WHO KNOWS IT IS RUNNING FAST ? .THE CONCERNED CONSUMER.IS IT NOT? HE HAS TO SEND A LETTER ENCLOSING THEREWITH COPY OF THE BILL TO THE CONCERNED DISTRICT/ ZONAL OFFICE & ALONG WITH METER TESTING FEE. THE ELE.METER DEPT SUPERVISOR WILL GET IT TESTED IN THE LAB. & RESULTS MADE KNOWN .YOU CAN ALSO GET A PARALLEL METER INSTALLED & VERIFY THE EXCESS/SHORTFALL IN THE READING .YOU CAN ALSO GET THE TESTING REPORT .REGARDING OTHER PETROL DISPENSING METER I DON'T KNOW THE SYSTEM more

system is there but there is no guarantee of any thing like test reports, etc; is the meter checked in your presence? what is the procedure or method they follow to check any good or bad meter? Is it as per the standards like BIS, or ASTM, OR DIN?
WHO KNOWS ALL THESE? Sir do you have any example, where after lodging complain and checking the Bill amount is reduced?
Even the two months billing system is also faulty, the meter reading and the charges those are levied over and above are also not easy to understand by a common citizen.

Sir, entire wiring input and the distribution of supply lines to individuals meter was done two years back, by the help of company's certified electricians.we live in an apartment. more

Sir, Thanks, any additional such meter installation is not that simple and without the permission of the ELECTRICITY SUPPLY COMPANY, any way thanks once again, I could not understand why you said I have to be reasonable? What is unreasonable in what I have said here? more

Anilji, Thanks, you are right but we ca see here only out of 1.25 million people hardly viewed by 2610 people and out of them hardly 25 citizens have commented, even though this is the public issue. That shows the interest of the people. more

Sir, The same problem was with me also. I have gone through the procedure of Inspecting the Meter but all in Vain as they have a standard reply 'Meter Tested and Found OK'
I have also checked the Earthing and home Wiring i.e. Meger Test by an License holder Electrician also and found OK.
But still the Bill problem is there.
This is a Public Issue but Regret to say that neither the Opposition Leader nor the Officers are taking any Action. more

At this stage should we take the assistance of the press , which went into the harmful preservative used for fish supplied in the market . Then Government had to step in . At least we are satisfied that the Government is aware that the public is made aware . In this case there doesn't seem to be any indication of the Petroleum Ministry getting to know the malpractices and the suffering public . more

The State Governments' Departments of Controller of Weights & Measures under the Departments of Consumers are the most LAX and corrupt. In fact these departments should put on their websites the number of auto taxis, house electricity and water meters, etc. they have checked and found to be defective or repaired or changed along with the identities of the owners every month. This alone will be a mitigating step. more
