Milk adulteration
Dear All, I've concerns on purity over milk, had there been any collective drive in the past to address food security concerns?
We all know that the milk we offer to our kids and family is not pure, might be synthetic and poisonous. But are we so helpless that we can't do anything about that? I recently experienced very weird Amul Gold milk. Is there any forum where these issues can be raised and addressed? more

First of all the milk, which is being supplied by different companies and by local vendors, should be subject to periodical lab testing by Food and Drugs Department. Their inspectors should collect samples from distributors/stores and check at random. If it contains any adulteration or defective, action should be taken, immediately against the company/suppliers. For this it's our duty to write letters to the department and see that they takes complaints seriously. If, they are not responding, matter should be referred to the Consumer grievances Forum. more

It is suggested that milk supplying companies have their direct outlets/ franchises which can be held accountable in case of defective, spurious, poisonous and adulterated milk. The private milk vendors should be registered and held accountable like wise. more

The one thing each of us can do as consumers to save ourselves from adulteration is to ensure we destroy used plastic milk bags/tetrapak boxes after use so that the same is not reused by adulterators. This one step can help reduce adulteration by at least 50% as they will lose their source of cheap packaging material. This information has to be spread around. more
