Minimizing Train Accidents than Bullet Trains
Everyone should note the following I received over email from a friend this am. Addressing below issues should be a far more important priority than bullet trains. Last budget we voted for cleanliness, this year services amenities. We took safety for granted. The Govt should make it #1 priority in 2017 budget. Read below everyone.
- The railways is carrying 15 times more people than its capacity, and overloading is damaging old tracks, for the repair of which investment is lacking.
- Indian trains are not equipped with proper safety and fire equipment.
- Lack of devices to automatically stop the train and anti-collision devices.
- As many as 18 of 21 accidents occur because of human error, fault of the driver and negligence of railway staff.
- Manual signalling system between stations is often at fault and must be replaced with automated ones.
- Unmanned crossings: 15,000 crossings out of 50,000 in India are unmanned. more

Let Bullet Train wait but we should have ZERO accident scene assured thru Technical actions as well as Administrative reforms so that ifvFriver or Signal man does any mistake , death penalty shall be delivered within maximum one year . Unless there are punishment of this order for any lapse the journey shall be insecure. ALL tracks be examined by better equipment and the investment on Anti collision Devices must be done and the Speed regulation must be automated thru Lovomotive Computrised Opeartion. Please ask DRDO to work or shut down this corrupt organisation that makes money thru manipulation of the suppliers . Hope this is under check . Jai Hind. G S Azad( Mechanical Engineer ). more

Indian Railways are mostly used by the people who can't afford air travel. All will be very happy if the average speed of 'Superfast' train becomes approx. 120 km/hr., (compared to existing approx. 60 km/hr.). But appropriate maintenance of tracks, locomotives, coaches are of paramount importance. we don't like bullock trains and also don't require bullet trains. more

There should be Preventive Maintenance, Predictive maintenance, regular maintenance , regular follow up and actions. Strict actions are to be taken against the faulty staffs. more

Instead of bullet trains...we should first channelise money into safety and repair and maintenance of old coaches, tracks and bridges. Upgrading RPF, TTEs, gangmen etc. Can govt answer why railway was denied money by finance ministry for safety measures and money is available for bullet trains? Is bullet train more important than Indian lives? more
