Mobile & Aadhaar

Somehow the present government is bent upon forcing people to include Aadhaar for everything. Till few years back the same politicians were criticizing so much the Aadhaar initiative during the previous regime. Now they want Aadhaar for everything. There is a joke floating that without Aadhaar dead bodies will not be allowed to be cremated/buried.
On the other hand recently government itself explained that it cancelled 18000 Aadhaar Centres as they were indulging in malpractices. Important issue is by just cancelling them how the wrong already done could be rectified? Obviously those Centres might have been indulging in malpractices for sometime before the same were detected. What about those Aadhaar nos. which were manipulated? How the government is going to rectify the manipulations? Seems not possible.
If not possible, what is the sanctity of Aadhaar nos? more

Yes, Mr Ashwani Khurana, can you suggest how in the case of aadhar? The Govt. should not ask the public to link with so many other documents or fields, instead they can do it automatically once any one is linked. Apart from this is there any other way? more
I agree with Mr Kirmani. I have always maintained that you need a strong punishment for those violating and sharing aadhar info. In fact stronger punishment is needed in a lot of other situations and laws in the cosntry. more
Send a contempt letter to the mobile service provider. Court has not mandated linking Aadhar to mobile. This is a spin by vested interests more
The cancellation of aadhar centres is for preventing future malpractice and is a deterrent for others that are not yet banned. The logic should not be what you pose. At least I am happy that there is some kind of audit and action based on the audit! How many Govt. departments have an audit and action cell that act? Had banks done this we wont have Vijay Mallayas and lakhs of crores of rupees as bad debt. Can we see the advantage of aadhar for the nation as a whole instead of viewing it as an inconvenience for individuals? What is there to hide if you have nothing to hide? more
Dear Shri Muthuswamy, The question is not what is there to hide if you have nothing to hide. The big question is what is the framework in grievance related to leakage of information to the vested interest. What are the penal provisions for sharing of the information to the vested interest. Why information related to my accounts be shared with any tom, beacon and harry that too against consideration. What will happen if accounts get hacked. Unless and until there is a proper system in preventing cyber crimes with penal provisions, I do not favor for such linkage. How you get a call from the criminal asking you blockage of debit cards and then the money gets siphoned from the accounts. We can not expect that the public will be educated enough and alert that they do not fall prey to such criminal activities looking at the population mix we have in India. If Aadhar linkage is such an important issue then we should also look on priority about linking of voters card in the first instance. more
But what is wrong if the same can be done without any inconvenience? more
Sir this is not a joke. Government is considering that Aadhar number to be made compulsory for cremation and issue of death certificate. more
If the deceased did not have an aadhar card the relatives cannot cremate the body resulting in spreading of diseases ultimately the health of persons living around will be affected. more
