Mobile ticket

Unreserved tickets should be possible to be purchased using a mobile app. This will help reduce crowd at the counters and also passengers travelling onward journey. more

I don't support this. The main idea of season ticket is for the office going people and the others using it just once a day daily. By buying a season ticket one is free to travel any number of times. However for the convenience of the people who commute daily to avoid standing in queue the season ticket is issued. If the season ticket is made transferable then as envisaged by the person who posted this many others will use this and burden the already loss making railways. If one look closely the return ticket issued at the counter has the validity printed as available for return journey on the day of issue or the dayafter or from Saturday to Monday. I have seen people using the return portion for more than one journey. Let's be honest and answer our own conscience while doing any act. Don't wait for the law enforcement to always catch us. Jaihind! Jai Bharat!! Let us together make our country a great one! more  
A good idea. However I have this problem that I am unable to buy a through unreserved ticket from KUTTALAM (KTM) to DADAR(DR), at the booking counter at Kutalam station. The booking clerk says his system does not have the facility. What an irony when the government saying DIGITAL INDIA!. I am forced to travel to the next station to buy the ticket. If it is by train then I waste about two hours, if by road I will spend more money than the entire cost of the train journey. I wrote a complaint to the railways but although they say they have solved the problem, still it doesn't reflect at the counter. Again coming to booking with the mobile App. Already for booking using the IRCTC App. you pay extra for the service charge as well as charges for the bank by using the Internet banking. When railways give us 5% discount for using Smart card, why then the same is not applicable to the online purchase of the ticket. Even if you go for other sites like Makemytrip etc. the site ask us to first log and get registered with the IRCTC site. more
