Model of ordinary non-suburban passenger coach needs drastic change
(1) The width of seat is too big to comfortably lean upon the back rest. It should be reduced by about 4".
(2) The seats are facing each other. When passengers are less and front seat is lying vacant, a good number of passengers are having habit of keeping their feet on the front seat making it unclean. This culture may be stopped if seats are placed facing one side only.
(3) They also lie down on 4-seaters, its size being very suitable for a person to sleep. So seats may be changed from 4+1 to 3+3 with a little slant towards back.
(4) Some passengers have also habit of climbing up to sleep on the upper bunk along with their pair of shoes/chappals, that is meant to keep luggages, when it is vacant. These bunks may be made parallel metal rods to support luggage with a little slant towards wall.
I would request railway competent authority personnel to ride an ordinary passenger train from Sealdah(SDAH) to Lalgola (LGL) on any day and feel the above situations. more
