Over the years, the Railway facility has improved in India.
24 hours service of the Railway Department staffs make the Railway Department special.
Still I feel there are necessary of more economic class train connecting cities and states.

Railways has to go long way to experience significant improvement. Now major routes have double tracks but speed of the trains have not been increased and thus the average speed of trains hover around 60 kms per hour. Again, almost all express trains have been converted into superfast express paving way to additional levies with more stops. So trains are over crowded. Checking is not proper and so ticketless travel has increased inconveniencing legitimate passengers. Senior citizens concession has not been restored. Though levy for bed rolls still continues, but bed rolls are not provided. In AC compartments curtains are not there. Hygiene level is below par with few exceptions. In short, railways has made up the loss incurred during covid with these unfriendly measures. In short railways is making profit.

Being a very large network, everyone will not have the same experience, but I too feel that overall the stations are cleaner, the timings are generally adhered to, there has been an ease of reservation etc. Regarding shortcomings, many have experienced the immediate response from "rail madad".

I beg to differ on this. I recently had travelled by Rajdhani Express from New Delhi to Howrah on 4th/5th May by coach no-A4 and had following things to report:- 1. General cleanliness was far from satisfactory/ 2. Toilets were dirty, there were water accumulation in both toilets. 3. There were no bottle holders in berths and no side pockets to keep your books or spectacle. While returning on 30th May by Bikaner Duranta Express the journey was relatively comfortable but found short comings:- 1.There were no curtains on the entry of cubicles. 2. There were no provision to keep the seat covers in western toilet. In both trains the boys serving the meals and the cleaners were asking for tips which is against the railway rules.

India is large country. There is scope to expand railway network and services to passengers by involving private players.

Railways should run more ordy. passenger services more than earlier times. Transport is more crucial to commonfolk more than ever before. Rlys should find ways of running pass. trains more efficiently at less cost. The concept of running them at lower speed is out moded as such trains will stay on track blocking express trains. So such trains can run as parcel trains with double benefits of moving essentials ay lower cost as well providing affordable transport for poor citizens. Decades ago I know in TATA - GUA section there were only ordinary trains but they ran fast and punctually because they cannot hold up ore carrying freight trains. More over more affordable passenger trains will mean diversion of diesel guzzling road transport at cheaper cost to the people. This needs to be done even if it means a little subsidy
