MOST WELCOME ENFORCEMENT BY FSSAI , BALL IN THE COURT OF SCHOOLS ,THANKS TO THE COURTS , FSSAI : :

Though this has come a bit late after the Delhi high courts order in 2015, we can see some semblance of Seriousness as there has been several articles by Child specialists , Nutritionists and lawyers.

The statistical figures on Obesity and overweight will be really alarming to read ; on the converse with the back ground of malnutrition deaths, 7 Lakhs (68%) in India.

July 2017 study says that out of 195 countries India had the second most number at 14.4 million obese children .

*FSSAI has very well analysed the situation and brought out the valid points .

* Prohibiting Sale of FSS products ,

* No advertisement or offering such free foods within 50 meters of the School premises.

* No logos , brand names of Junk foods on the Educational material like books etc. and on school property

* FSSAI will recommend wholesome foods and guidance .

THE ONUS NOW WILL BE ON THE SCHOOL & PARENTS TO INCULCATE HEALTHY EATING HABITS ,ENSURE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND ON ADVERTISEMENTS .

-Make the best use and fight OBESITY & OVERWEIGGHT. more

Keeping such shops away from school premises alone will not of much help until the parents keep their children away from fast/junk foods at homes. Not only children but the parents of present days as well are found to have too much weakness towards such foods, which are not only cooked at home but often ordered online and being enjoyed by all together. At home as well the demands of the children for such foods easy to prepare and feed them get minimal objections from mothers. Under such a scenario, it is to be seen as to how the anointed directives of the FSSAI help in fighting with the issue of Obesity, which has already reached at alarming proportion. more
At least the process of arresting the spread can intiated . more
Very True needs attention for the parents also more
Junk fast foods should be kept out of the reach of the school children. FSSAI move in this regard will be very useful. more
That will be great and slowly people will shy away from such products similar to what has happened to cigarettes it has come down a lot from earlier days more
Forming regulations and passing Acts alone will not help. There need to be concrete mindset and action for implementation. But glad there is a beginning now more
