Hello Seema Somani... How r you doing.. more
I am not connected with plastic business but to take balance view Plastic is one of the best innovation on earth. Unfortunately it is arrogantly used I.e. less then 50 micron zabhlla bag. some of disposable items etc. In fact Govt. / municipality has banned less then 50 micron in 2006 but they have not implemented effectively otherwise today it would have resolved more then 50% problems as it is major root cause of environmental damage. Now we woke up are becoming strict for all items. At the same time when PET and thermocol usage increased parrelel a recycle system should be developed with a regulatory control system so that we can avoid plastic waste. Now suddenly to impose banned on most of the routine items disturbing to public who are habitual to use it widely. Our population is huge with various segment not easy to impose overnight. We allow to spoil and damage substentially and then we become overnight extraordinarily wise. I am in favour of ban but wise implementation with systematic planned way is necessary. The best way to implement is making awareness at all level, Educating people at each age and class level. self awareness is the best way for acceptance it will not come overnight as we have not done anything these many years but if firmly adhared to it will give result permanently. There are some concern area if we use more paper base substitute in place of plastics. 1. it will destroy trees and greenery again issue for balancing CO2 in environment. 2. Paper manufacturing uses more acid and chemicals finally drained out which is big threat to river and ocean water. 3. There will be high consumption of water to manufacture paper 4. Paper is not at all a good substitute for preserving any article it has poor moisture resistant, it gets torn easily, low strength to hold substance. It damages and spoil the inner material. The big disadvantage is it attract insects and termite. Considering reality restriction should be implemented stage wise, at manufacturing stage giving them guidelines what not to make and what to make with recycling arrangement, new area of recycled material usage like road, etc. rather then directly disturbing consumer level who can be prevented if it is not supplied at all. A long term good stable regulatory policy will balances all aspects for all concern areas. more
We have inherited the Earth from our parents but have borrowed it from our children. Let us fully support plastic ban for the sake of our children and future generations. There will be difficulties because of habits we have formed. Let us change our habits. We were also living without plastic before it came in our lives. more
I am into plastic industry for more than 25 years. the need of the hour is environment safety for our coming generation. though it is difficult to accept, things will settle for betterment in coming days. Let us stand to the need of the hour and support the ban. more
We are so addicted to the use of plastic, ignoring the hidden dangers to our lives as well as to the lives on earth. Total banning of plastic brings our lives to a grinding halt. To avert the awaiting dangers on account of the usage of plastic, we have to be tough at some points and compromise at some points till some substitute or alternative is found . We cannot be so strict at all counts. Life is to go on. it is one's duty to co-operate and bear with it for the betterment of our lives and save future lives. more
