MRP Enforcement Circle

the MRP law flouting matter raised by me hasn't led to action yet. I am of the view that MRP related issues must be seggregated from the broader consumer circle which has many other issues like grievances, digital transactions, insurance, direct selling etc.

a transaction circle should be created around mrp and packaging enforcement and every controller and inspector in the country must be accessing it mandatory so people can report and they can address. ideally local circles are needed so local community becomes aware and inspectors act.

only then mrp compliance will take place. otherwise this area will never reform.

Pricing Mechanism must be enforced. more
In comparison to branded medicines the generic medicines are very cheap. Generic medicines are available at 25% rate of branded medicines. The MRP of the generic medicines also printed 3/4 times more than the selling price. Suppose a sheet of 10 tablets is sold for Rs 10 its MRP is printed Rs 40/50. This is about generic medicine only not about branded medicine. Why so? more
It's a good idea. It's true, shopkeepers are fleecing the consumers based on MRP in most of the markets except the busy marketing spots in Delhi. The circle may be capable to raise the matter to appropriate forum. Chandan Saha(Consultant-Industry & Management practice) more
I would like to draw attention of circle members to the mind game played by manufacturers/distributers to be-fool customers. An example is the Car/Four wheeler manufacturers. Their Ads in the papers always give attractive offers like"total benefits upto Rs --------". The question I ask is - have they ever sold a vehicle without an offer. It simply means that the actual price is much less and the attractive offers are just to play with the customer's psychology and make a fool of him rather than reduce the price. Likewise some ready-made garment brands are always offering heavy discounts. more
The following suggestions are made for people like me. This is for thinking and discussion and formulate a system where the guilty can be taken to task. 1. Why do you expect that Government or the officials are to act on this. What are we doing? Do we fight against the faulty system. When it comes to our needs, we forget others and pay whatever may be price and get the item. This is the lacuna exploited by traders and intermediaries. How to solve it. 1.a. Do we ever consult between us and call for the price list of the company. Do we verify the purchase invoice of the trader to know the actual price. No body does it. We grumble and bear the atrocity. 1.b. Have we ever insisted on a bill and pay cashless so that the records will be available for us to take up the irregularity to the higher level or to the authorities who have confiscating and punishing powers. 1.c. Even if you do that there is no time bound action against the guilty. It is due to corruptive administrative system and officers. 1.d. Even if the officer takes up the matter, the trader is fined or given a light punishment which is not commensurate with the great harm caused by him. He simply pays the fine and comes out and does the same thing more vigorously. 1.e.Such traders ensure that they satisfy the govt officials and elected politicians and all connected with the system by graft etc, with the result they hardly get punished. My point here is the common man has to be aware of the prices, deal correctly and buy products. In case of fraud or cheating he may refer the matter to a monitoring committee formed from the common men/public. The committee should make independent and confidential enquiry and refer the matter to the concerned officials and followup for punishing the guilty. If there is no punishment or waiver, they should take up further and further and see that it is solved. more
