MRP on Grocery items
There is no control by any agency or mechanism how to fix MRP on various Grocery items. It is astonishing to see that Super Markets are offering flat discount of 20% discount on MDH Masales, 12% on Pitanjali items, 33% on Catch Masales, 26% on Mangat Ram Dal (All Variants). Hitkari Honey - MRP Rs.195/- available at Rs.157/- WITH BUY 1 GET 1 FREE. Kisan Ketchup MRP Rs.130/- available at Rs.99/-. These are just just 4/5 examples. Otherwise the position is the same in almost all the items. HOW THESE MRPs ARE FIXED? SO MUCH MARGIN! HOW GOVERNMENT IS ALLOWING THAT? THE AGONY IS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING IN ALMOST THE BRANDED ITEMS. LOT MANY PEOPLE PARTICULARLY COMMON MEN MUST BE PURCHASING AT MRP. How to control such situation? more

As long as the citizens of this country take things lightly....anybody can do anything and everything! We voted for Modi for a clean administration, in essence what happened? Anything and everything costly today...perhaps, government is unable to control many things, adding to this government employees do not support with government due to various reasons! So, we do hv a failed govt machinery! What hope we have ....we do not hv an able leader who can control the administration of this country! OPPOSITION parties are a mere waste of time!! Only thing, let us not make noice on this! Am very saddened to live in this generation! more

There is no norm, no standard to fix MRP. Each manufacturer decides on his own based on its perception and market history of the product. The seller (retail stores or supermarkets) give discounts over MRP by reducing their profit margin to boost sales and increase net revenue. It will be prudent to debate, fix a basis for MRP and set it as a national standard. Then review the basis from time to time and revise the standard. BIS or any other relevant nodal agency may be entrusted with this task. more

The competative price has made the Super Markets - special and people are inclined. MRP has lost its importance, as items are available at much cheaper prices. more
