MRP on Medical Devices

Notification by NPPA as shared by Amit is a great win for us and local circle. Now with NPPA notification as reference, Dept of Consumer Affairs should amend packaged commodity rules and then ensure that all supplies going into hospitals have MRP.

The dept should also ensure good training for their field staff so there is zero harassment and 100% compliance. only then end consumer will benefit. more

MRP is nearly double on some eatable products like maida and suji on 500 gm packs than wholesale prices of same products to give more profits to retailers more

Yes, agree. Why should hospitals make money out of medicines or consumables? They are there to provide services and take charges from patients for the services provided. Not the disservices! Every product sold or used in all Hospitals should be accounted for and should cost the patient much below the inflated MRP, as hospitals always procure the items in bulk and at much lesser prices than the exorbitant MRP. more
There should a separate Govt. Dept. called "Drugs Control Dept." who r expected to keep a check on the prices of medicines. I wonder what the department is doing despite a big hue n cry from the public / local circle members. They need to be referred to in the matter for their response n necessary prompt action. Similarly, I observe many hard ware items n their spare parts r seldom with MRPs. None to check. We from local circles, need take up the issue with the appropriate govt. authorities for their immediate positive action without fail. more
We have to take initiative start posting reviews and complaints against medical equipments and tools suppliers with in their websites and email them asking about the pricing fix under the medical regulations and council. more
