Municipal Corporations
My experience in Kolkata Municipal corporation is that it is extremely corrupt. No work gets done , even after you have paid the bribe, they will go on harassing you.I paid advance tax, but was out of town when inspector came, he increased the tax to ten times. Ten years have passed and the matter is still not solved, although I have paid bribe to several people.My suggestion is make the tax nominal- say 6 % and calculation on sq ft area and then give the processing to TCS like they have done for passport office.New law based on UAA method on sq ft area passed in Kolkata, but they have used the factors in such a manner that in zone B if u let out a 1000 sqft space to a office, u need to pay Rs 20k tax per month. Hence again flat owners will need to bribe inspectors to either hide or show lower sq ft area or show as residential etc more
