Municipal Health inspectors
Municipal health inspectors of Delhi and across India as such have lots of power but very little knowledge and capability.
Case in point - our crazy media because of pollution has been busy pumping oxygen bars. These oxygen bars are fancy idea but could be very dangerous to people and the muncipal inspectors due to lack of understanding or by accepting bribe have approved them.
Use of scented oxygen which these bars are serving might not at all be safe. To add scent to oxygen, the oxygen is bubbled through a liquid containing scented additives or aroma oil. Users will seldom know the properties of the oils or the components of the additives used. Scented oxygen can be harmful to people, particularly to those with allergies and lung diseases. Fragrant materials very often contain aromatic hydrocarbons, many of which are potential allergens and can trigger asthma and allergic symptoms.
Moreover, the aromatistion of oxygen generates ultrafine droplets of essential oils which, when inhaled with oxygen, get deposited in the lungs and accumulate in the alveoli leading to a respiratory condition known as “lipoid pneumonia”. In this condition, deposited oil droplets can cause severe inflammation, damage alveolar septa (thin single cell lining between two adjacent alveoli) and interstitium (the area between an alveolus and its adjacent capillary) and lead to fibrosis. Long-term exposure to such exogenous oil substances may cause chronic lipoid pneumonia in which the patients remain asymptomatic and are often diagnosed at a very late-stage, and that too, incidentally, due to other illnesses. Among people with a lung condition, even a short-term acute exposure to such exogenous fragrance or oils can be life-threatening.

Yes,sanitary & health inspectors are ill-motivated,indolent & affected by all pervasive corruption in the govt machinery at municipal,police,& civil administrations levels. The set-ups are grossly undermanned & very poorly supervised.’Swatcch Bharat’ campaign of central government has not shaken up municipal corporations out of their crass indifference.NCT Govt of Delhi & all RWA’s should closely review/ observe the discharge of their functions.Anti-corruption agency of the city govt should regularly catch the corrupt officials.Then the sham Oxygen bars will not exist You see public awareness is abysmally!!! That is the root cause. more

Yes, such ignorant and non accountable Inspectorates are not doing any productive service to the citizens. Simply wasting tax payers' finances. Abolish such cadres, which are burden than succour. more

Yes. Pure oxygen will make people more sick. We must inhale right mix to make it natural oxygen which we are inhaling for millions of years. more
