Municipalities of Delhi - Inputs Needed on Solutions

Below are the key Issues and Root Causes as outlined by you in regards to Municipalities in Delhi. Kindly review and help identify specific solutions for them

Municipalities of Delhi – Key Root Causes
1. Municipal workers lack accountability
2. Workers put ghost attendance and work in a second job
3. There is no biometric attendance system
4. Employees think that taking bribes for cleaning is their right
5. Corporation still has the old methods of working
6. Workers are not physically fit
7. The design of the drainage system is archaic
8. Lack of latest work equipment
9. Some officers/ staff do not take action and get away due to loopholes in the existing system or lack of implementation
10. Whenever an aware citizen reports corruption, poor work, no action is taken by senior echelon or complaints are not replied to
11. Corruption at senior levels makes it difficult for seniors to take actions on citizen complaints against junior officers/supervisors/staff
Municipalities of Delhi – Key Issues
1. Roads are not cleaned properly
2. Garbage dumps are found in many places
3. Footpaths are broken at many places
4. Roads are not well maintained, resulting in the wear and tear of vehicles
5. Drains are all choked up and overflow
6. Dustbins are not cleaned regularly
7. MCD increases the parking rates very often
8. MCD is never prepared for the rainy season and the drains overflow even after a little rain
9. MCD is unable to control the number of stray dogs
10. Ghost staff - there is a large staff on the payroll but you don't see too many actually working on the ground
11. Not working full hours – a significant number of staff have private jobs where they spend a good bit of their time
12. Municipal workers are also deployed as household staff in homes of politicians
13. There is a major corruption problem in Delhi municipalities
14. Mismanagement of funds and poor collection of property taxes. more

What is the benefit of discussing all these here....No one from AAP is looking into these issue. I am the supporter of AAP but now loosing faith in these guys as they are also not replying to emails or phone calls. more

Not only Sr. officers but it is Junior Staff who are thoroughly corrupt. Meter Reader of Delhi Jal board gets regular money from Pvt. Guest Houses running in DDA Residential flats.It is Sarita Vihar.After the return of Kejriwal they have become more belligerent. Our footpaths are encroached and now in the name of "Kejri..." they commit all sorts of irregularities.Farmer who committed suicide at Jantar Mantar (on222nd April) was exhorted by AAP. more

Mr. K. Singh: In south Delhi, we do not feel so great. H'ever I use "HIT" Spray daily while retiring to bed. Our drains are also choked. I'm a R/o Sarita Vihar while my original place in my childhood was Pahar Ganj(Central Delhi). We used to sleep on our roofs without any humming of mosquitoes. Kejriwal is going to do Nasbandi program for Mosquitoes. He may announce it soon. Just to make rally successful at Jantar Mantar(22nd April'14) he and his workers incited "Kisan" to hang himself. Rally became a news and blinded by Anti Modi feelings today in parliament few tears were shed by opposition. Jai Hind more

I have a complaint also why there are almost zero mosquitos in south Delhi as compared to rest of Delhi - because i got to know from my south Delhi resident colleagues that mosquito sprays are done weekly. However in rest of Delhi, it is done in years. more

There is a dearth of clean ,hygienic public toilets which meet basic needs of citizens. Even those constructed for Commonwealth Games remain locked and unused due to general apathy of officials. On the other hand Smart Cities is the latest buzzword. more
