Name entry in online PAN Card application
My daughter's name is Ashwini.K.P. (similar)
I have tried to apply online for a PAN card for her. The problem started in the very beginning itself. The name column will not accept initials of the name in their online application form. There is no way other than expanding the initials to enter the name. But all of her documents for address and identity proof including birth certificate are in the name of Ashwini.K.P only (not expanded). So the application has been rejected by the verifying officer because of non matching documents. I got an SMS to re submit the documents with the same name as entered in online application. How I can? I lost the money paid for it.
Since the PAN card was very urgent, I have been compelled to give bribe through an agent. The result was wonderful. With the same (rejected)documents, I received the PAN card in time.
My doubt is why they have made rules for not accepting a person's original name in PAN card application? Is it only to get bribe from people? more

this becomes more problematic when you reside abroad. On email they never respond to. further for every correction you have to send them physical copies which again a cumbersome process. why can't you accept documents through registered email address? On one hand government boast of digitization and in fact it is contrary. more

Every region follows different naming methods. High time govt understands and changes rules. My name in Aadhaar stands with expanded initial. Originally I filled the application showing my expanded initial as surname. But card came with just my name. While doing the marriage of my name with Aadhaar, to get over this mismatch I added expanded initial. I will die oneday. My death certificate will only have my Aadhaar name. Will my property reach my family then as name confusion may play opposition role? more

I also got same problem they asked to put full name un muddle also though I have same name in passport still they say it will not happen. Even in passport office I asked if Mt middle name will be accepted in short? They said yes there are no rules we have to add full middle name so it worked but since april 2024 my pan card is not linked even after paying online fees of 1000 and no receipt or message.l from income tax office/department Today I went to nearby office call kshetriya Kendra yerwada and she says I have to change whole name in aadhar card, pan card, passport as middle name should be full...these people have no idea that the database or progarme which they use to fill our details have limited characters to enter our name. Middle name and surname..she just rejected by saying it will not work and aadhar card has dot in-between names and there is no dot in.pan card. Weird and foolish excuse...recently I got my pan card updated with address and name change and now she just rejected to link it...terrible employees... more
